44 is leaving me.

What could be worse?

To live in regret?

"There are people who tell me I've helped him. Mental health experts who say, that the simple act of being someone's friend can change his brain chemistry; and prove his functioning in the world.

I can't speak for Mr. Ayers in that regard. Maybe our friendship has helped him but maybe not. I can, however, speak for myself. I can tell you that by witnessing Mr. Ayers' courage, his humility, his faith in the power of his art, I learned the dignity of being loyal to something you believe in and holding on to it; above all else, believing without question that it will carry you home."

If you're sad then it's time you spoke up too

I just realized that I like driving when I'm feeling sad.

Right this moment, I feel like driving to the end of the earth.

Ms. Pomme de Terre is

going to be anti-social now onwards. I think I'll just be friends with music, beer, chocolates and movies.

And before I go, here's another song (since I'm such a fan of posting lyrics here).

I wanna live on the moon
Never see a human again
And as the earth explodes
I'll light a candle for my dead best friends
I don't enjoy this place,
My best friends are so mean
I look up to the sky when I am sad,
'cause the planets don't get down on me
I just want to fall asleep.
I just want to fall asleep
and dream of a place that's warm,
oh yeah.. I look up to the sky when I am sad,
'cause the planets don't get down on me

So what are you doing still hanging out with me?

44: And you love me

I found this on my old blog earlier while I was looking for a picture:

"...ANYWAYSS (sorryy.. I get carried away all the time) SHAR's blog entry about crappy feelings and all was just so sad. And when I was reading it.. (as weird as this is going to sound) I'm gonna friggin miss SHar also (*sniff <--real sadness k?) We've not actually been close and SHar being the reserved person he is (except about masturbation and everything perverted) didn't help.. But I suppose the mamak sessions helped loads. I mean, all those crappy conversations about sailing across the sea with you-know-what-kinda-engines (haha), and how he'd mention again and again about his resentment towards us and this place... has ironically made the bond.. stronger! HAHA I know I wasn't really mentioned about being missed in his entry and I know I couldn't possibly be as close to him as his other old (literally and not literally) friends are.. but still... I will miss your car Shar.. LOL OKay., I was kidding. You know what I mean.. Okay.. now SHar I'm sorry.. You know I adore you (*ok.. this sounds weird. gross lol) and all but I've just got to miss sending you off at the airport and go for that damn concert. COLDPLAY is coming to town! AHa... "

Happy Belated Birthday Shar! You're the best, for sure =D

To the valentines that never came

I learned the truth at seventeen
That love was meant for beauty queens
And high school girls with clear skinned smiles
Who married young and then retired
The valentines I never knew
The Friday night charades of youth
Were spent on one more beautiful
At seventeen I learned the truth.
And those of us with ravaged faces
Lacking in the social graces
Desperately remained at home
Inventing lovers on the phone
Who called to say come dance with me
and murmured vague obscenities
It isn't all it seems
At seventeen.

A brown eyed girl in hand me downs
Whose name I never could pronounce
said, Pity please the ones who serve
They only get what they deserve
The rich relationed hometown queen
Married into what she needs
A guarantee of company
And haven for the elderly.
Remember those who win the game
Lose the love they sought to gain
indebentures of quality
And dubious integrity
Their small town eyes will gape at you
in dull surprise when payment due
Exceeds accounts received
At seventeen.

To those of us who know the pain,
Of valentines that never came,
And those whose names were never called
When choosing sides for basketball
It was long ago and far away
The world was younger than today
And dreams were all they gave for free
To ugly duckling girls like me.
We all play the game and when we dare
To cheat ourselves at solitaire
Inventing lovers on the phone
Repenting other lives unknown
That call and say, come dance with me
and murmur vague obscenities
At ugly girls like me
At seventeen.

I need your company )=

Professor Emeritus Tengku Dato’ Shamsul Bahrin, the President of Nilai University College, Professor John Raftery, Pro Vice Chancellor of Oxford Brookes University, Dato’ Dr. Sothi Rachagan, Mr. Gan Eng Hong, our visitors from Oxford Brookes University, Academics, graduands of Oxford Brookes University and Nilai University College, family and friends.

Good Morning. We stand here today with much to be thankful for and I am honoured to be given the opportunity to address you this morning. I welcome you to this memorable and prestigious ceremony. To those who have had to travel halfway round the world to be here today, thank you.

When Henry Ford was bringing his vision of the motor vehicle into our world, people around him ridiculed him and thought he had gone mad in pursuing such a wild vision. But he knew much more. He said, “When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it”. We are sitting here today, a testament, that we can win against all adversities, provided that we learn to conquer our minds, particularly when our will is weak.

In the course of our long journey, we reached many crossroads which have taken us to different paths. Some of us have failed, while others have flourished. When faced with adversity we should remain steadfast and strong. Don’t let the regrets of yesterday destroy our hopes and dreams of tomorrow. No circumstance should force you to live in despair.

To my fellow graduates, we’ve made it. We’ve finally made it! Congratulations. What honours we are about to receive today will be ours forever, so congratulations for all the achievements we have accomplished in academics, athletics, the arts, both in Uni and out. I hope that we will all continue to grow to be exemplary ambassadors of Oxford Brookes University and Nilai University College and that we will carry messages of morality and knowledge as we contribute towards the evolution in society – even if only through simple ways and means.

My fellow classmates, I’d like to thank you for your friendship and support. I am who I am today because of you. We are who we are today, because of each other. I pray that we will continue to learn from the experiences that we’ve shared in the past, as I have. I hope that each of us finds the right opportunity for ourselves; and that peace and good will prevail – for ourselves and our loved ones. The years we have spent together will forever be etched in my memory - the fun, the laughter, the sweat, the tears, and the sleepless nights. At times the road had been a rough one but we plodded on and perseverance prevailed. As I look back now, I know I wouldn’t have it any other way. So thank you and congratulations to all of you once again.

Distinguished guests, parents, teachers, families and friends; we are all proud and greatly honoured to have walked the halls of Nilai UC – blessed for being provided a healthy environment, conducive for study and growth of the mind with a balance of hard work, fun and good friends. For that, thank you Nilai UC. But the honours that we receive today could not have been achieved without the hard work of many people. Congratulations and thank you to our teachers and University personnel, for our success is your success. Thank you for giving us the opportunity and the freedom to explore. For the support and faith you have in us, thank you. Allow me to also extend my gratitude to the University’s Administration and its faculty for their perseverance and hard work – they have truly changed our lives. To the Corporate Communications department of Nilai UC, thank you for giving me the wonderful opportunity of helping out with the EXPLORER magazine. Special thanks to the department of Marketing and Economics – the Head of Department, Ms. Gowrie Vinayan and our many lecturers – thank you for all of your support and for making us who we are today. I shall forever cherish you and I wish you the best life has to offer.

Of course we would all not be here without the self-sacrificing contributions of our parents. For all that we are and have today, we owe it to you. Thank you for believing in us even when we didn’t in ourselves. So my dear friends, I now invite all of you to stand up to show our appreciation by giving them a round of applause. Thank you.

My fellow graduates, today, I wish you comfort on difficult days, smiles when sadness intrudes, rainbows to follow the clouds, laughter to kiss your lips, sunsets to warm your heart, hugs when spirits sag, beauty for your eyes to see, friendships to brighten your being, faith so that you can believe, confidence for when you doubt, courage to know yourself, patience to accept the truth and love to complete your life.

I had some of the best experiences of my life here and I hope you did too. Today, I dedicate this victory of ours to our parents and families, and to our teachers and friends.

Thank you.

Reality came around

I'm starting to believe that bumping into the number 44 represents something; like its trying to say something.

Just read someone's blog like 30 seconds ago. It was so sad and depressing that I almsot hurled. Cannot take this anymore. I shouldn't anyway.

Things aren't going very well )=

"Sun rays come down as seen when they hit the ground, Children spinning around till they fall down down down. I wait for you: it's been two hours now. You're still somewhere in town. Your dinners getting cold. I rest my case you are always this late. And you know how much I hate waiting around 'round 'round. Bitter heart, bitter heart tries to keep it all inside. Bitter heart, bitter heart. Shadows will help you try to hide. Bitter heart, my bitter heart is gettin' just a little fragile. Bitter heart, bitter heart of mine. And then you come and tell me the same reason as you did yesterday. So tell me whats her name. Bitter heart, bitter heart tries to keep it all inside. Bitter heart, bitter heart shadows will help you try to hide. Bitter heart, my bitter heart is just getting a little fragile. Bitter heart, bitter heart of mine, of mine, of mine, of mine, of mine, of mine."

That does not represent how I feel. This probably does:

"Sirens ring, the shots ring out. A stranger cries, screams out loud. I had my world strapped against my back. I held my hands, never knew how to act. And the same black line that was drawn on you. Was drawn on me. And now it's drawn me in. 6th Avenue heartache. Below me was a homeless man. I'm singin' songs I knew complete. On the steps alone, his guitar in hand. It's fifty years, stood where he stands. Now walkin' home on those streets. The river winds move my feet. Subway steam, like silhouettes in dreams. They stood by me, just like moonbeams. Look out the window, down upon that street. And gone like a midnight was that man. But I see his six strings laid against that wall. And all his things, they all look so small. I got my fingers crossed on a shooting star. Just like me-just moved on"

And this: Zee Avi's Is This The End.

I know, so cliched. (=

OH well.

Must remember to call Emmmeettt Lim tomorrow. I hope you're doing okay.

Miss Pomme de Terre & GfK ImageWorld!

I'm having such a blast with the resources that I have access to at this company!

I have more than a gazillion pictures to choose from! And they're FREE!!

All I need to do is just drag and drop them into my 'basket' (as shown in picture above), click 'download' and voila!

The best part is that they're all very high-res, professional quality pictures! Just like the ones you'd have to buy from Clipart.com!

Oh, be jealous already!!

Mashed potatoes

There are times that walk from you like some passing afternoon
Summer warmed the open window of her honeymoon And she chose a yard to burn but the ground remembers her
Wooden spoons, her children stir her Bougainvillea blooms
There are things that drift away like our endless, numbered days
Autumn blew the quilt right off the perfect bed she made
And she's chosen to believe in the hymns her mother sings
Sunday pulls its children from their piles of fallen leaves
There are sailing ships that pass all our bodies in the grass
Springtime calls her children 'till she let's them go at last
And she's chosen where to be, though she's lost her wedding ring
Somewhere near her misplaced jar of Bougainvillea seeds
There are things we can't recall, blind as night that finds us all
Winter tucks her children in, her fragile china dolls
But my hands remember hers, rolling 'round the shaded ferns
Naked arms, her secrets still like songs I'd never learned
There are names across the sea, only now I do believe
Sometimes, with the windows closed, she'll sit and think of me
But she'll mend his tattered clothes and they'll kiss as if they know
A baby sleeps in all our bones, so scared to be alone

Ms. Pomme de Terre is shockered.

This, is a South American phorid fly.

This is a female South American phorid fly, injecting its eggs into a fire ant with a needle-like appendage.

The resulting larva will then migrate to the ant's head and starts living there for weeks. And listen to this: "it slurps up the brain and turns the ant into a 'zombie'", almost literally. The maggot appears to almost control the ant's behaviour, making the ant march a decent 55 yards/50 meters away from the colony to avoid attacks by other fire ants.

It gets even better.

The baby fly then DECAPITATES the ant and hatches through the head.

Apparently, the flies do not 'feast' on other kinds of native American ants except for fire ants. And the fire ants have become terrified of the flies, resulting in some ants not wanting the leave their nest to collect food (Imagine ants not wanting to look for food! That's like bees not wanting honey and want drain water instead!).

This is not something the flies have been doing for centuries you know? They evolved and developed this method of reproduction only recently.

Ew.

Dedicated to You.

As above, so below;
As within, so without.

I'm bored at work.

Can you do this without deleting any questions?
I guess, we'll see.

Do you smoke weed everyday?
no.

Would you get back with your last ex if they asked you?
no.

What’s something you really want right now, be honest?
A lot of things. A new car, a PDA phone, new shoes, new dresses, more cash, more sleep, more holidays, more friends, more happiness. Ms. Pomme de Terre is really ungrateful.

This could possibly:

1. give away my potato identity (to the non-existent readers).

2. give you goosebumps.

3. make you very, very scared of the person in the video (think: crazy dances).

But I think that:

1. it's super hilarious

2. and thoughtful

Potato Bro!

You know... i was just hanging out..out...then i saw this picture..picture. Then i saw a potato in him. Dude, im totally tripping balls, i have no idea whats goin on. Oh, Dont nuke our imagination bro! Dude...

Maybe, just maybe, there are potatoes in all of us. Dudeeee

Love,
Mr.Hashpipe, no..Mr.Hashbrownies

THE Potato

The potato is a starchy, tuberous crop from the perennial Solanum tuberosum of the Solanaceae family. The word potato may refer to the plant itself as well. In the region of the Andes, there are some other closely related cultivated potato species. Potatoes are the world's fourth largest food crop, following rice, wheat and corn (Rhodes, 2009).

Yea, yea, yeaaa...

But at least, did you know that the potato is:

"The almighty ruler of everything, eating it will only cause it to build a city inside your body, except without the superpowers like fry gained when he had worms. "
--UrbanDictionary.com

"Something idiots confuse with a tomato. For example, 'yummmm, what was in that salsa? Potato? ' *rolls eyes*"
--Laura

"An individual who is boring or bland; lacking special distinction"
--Kendra Hobbs

"Silencer for a handgun."
--Italianplaya

"A term used when an ugly old man appears in hentai."
--Shroin

"Contrary to what most believe, the word Potato (capital P) is actually colloquial terminolgy for the male reproductive organ, also know to many as a penis"
--rawrsterrrrr

I bet now you'd be thinking twice about them 'taters' wont'cha? =D
